Ontarians wagered CA$18.7 billion across all gambling platforms in the second quarter of 2024, the highest quarterly amount since online gambling and sports betting launched in April 2022. The handle (total bets) in Q1 2024 was CA$18.4 billion. The Q2 2024 handle was 1.6% higher than Q1 and 31.7% higher than Q2 2023.

The report notes that the handle does not include promotional deductions. iGaming Ontario does not report such deductions, hold percentages, or individual operator figures. There were 53 active operators and 83 platforms during the quarter.

For online casino gaming with slots, table games and peer-to-peer bingo the total bets placed were CA$16 billion. The gaming revenue was CA$738 million up 35.4% from Q2 2023. Compared to Q1 2024, the total bets increased 1.7% while revenue rose to CA$553 million, versus CA$407 million in Q2 2023.
