Brazil’s betting scene just got a major security upgrade. iugu, the fintech powerhouse behind countless online transactions in Latin America, has officially joined forces with the International Betting Integrity Association (IBIA) by signing up for their Payment Provider Forum.
This forum is not only one more corporate club – it is, in fact, the betting world’s neighborhood watch. Members commit themselves to keep things extremely clean, looking out for irregular transactions and, at the same time, checking if anyone is cheating which thereby affects sports results.
Ricardo Dostaole, who heads the betting division at iugu, was extremely positive about the partnership. “The fact that we are part of this association really means that we are now in the big leagues,” he said. “We are not merely doing the job of payment processing – we are creating something that will last not only in Brazil but also in the whole region as we cooperate with partners who care about security in betting and are ethical.”
The betting market in Brazil is literally going through a phase of skyrocketing right now. To give you an example – the government data reveals that during the first half of the year 2025 alone, 17.7 million Brazilians were betting online. It is very close to the number of people in the Netherlands who are using the betting apps.
This collaboration is the result of the ambitious Mission 2030 program, which IBIA is unveiling simultaneously. The plan comprises five years and aims to clean up the sports gambling business all over the world. They have been quite active lately as well and have recently consolidated the Dutch operator Starcasino and the African tech provider PawaTech as members of their association.
